The Office of the District Commissioner, Sonitpur, Tezpur has invited applications from eligible Indian citizens for engagement as Gaon Pradhan in various vacant Gaon Pradhan Lots under Sonitpur district.

A total of 43 vacancies have been notified under the revenue circles of Tezpur, Dhekiajuli, Thelamara, Chariduar and Naduar. The selected candidates will receive a monthly remuneration of ₹14,000.

The 43 vacant posts are distributed among the following revenue circles:

• Tezpur
• Dhekiajuli
• Thelamara
• Chariduar
• Naduar

Eligibility Criteria

Citizenship and Residency

The applicant must be an Indian citizen and should be a permanent resident of the village or villages covered under the Gaon Pradhan Lot for which he or she is applying.

Educational Qualification

The candidate must have passed HSLC or an equivalent examination from a recognized board or institution.

Age Limit

The applicant must be:

• At least 30 years old, and
• Not more than 65 years old
• The age will be calculated as on 01 January 2026.

Other Conditions

Candidates must also fulfill the following conditions:

• Must be physically fit and of sound mind.
• Must not be a government employee.
• Must not be financially insolvent or a debtor of government dues.
• Must have land or other movable/immovable property in his or her own name within the area concerned.
• Must not be a member of any political party.
• Must not have any pending court case or litigation.
• Must be capable of assisting in the implementation of government policies and programmes and extending cooperation during natural disasters.
• Preference may be given to eligible members of families of existing or former Gaon Pradhans, subject to the opinion of the Mouzadar.
• Applicants should be persons of good social standing and capable of carrying out the responsibilities of a Gaon Pradhan.

Two-Child Norm

As per the conditions mentioned in the notification, applicants should not have more than two children. Candidates claiming eligibility under the applicable provisions must submit the required affidavit along with the application.

• Gaon Pradhan Lot number applied for
• Name of the village
• Name of Mouza

• Age proof, such as HSLC Admit Card or Pass Certificate
• Proof of land/property in the applicant's name
• Proof of experience in social work
• Three recent passport-size photographs
• Recommendation/opinion of the Mouzadar, where applicable
• Up-to-date no-dues certificate
• Affidavit regarding the two-child norm
